The new leadership team discussed financial inclusion, the E-Payments Strategy and proposed legislation affecting payment providers.

PSPA's new leadership team, led by Chairman Japhet Aritho, paid a courtesy visit to the Bank of Uganda's National Payments Directorate team led by Andrew Kawere.

National programmes

The discussion covered PSPA's role in the Financial Inclusion Strategy (2023 to 2028) and in shaping the E-Payments Strategy (2021 to 2030).

Policy engagement

Both sides discussed ongoing consultations on emerging regulation, including the proposed Sovereignty Bill (2026) and its effect on the operations of payment service providers.

Last-mile work

They agreed to look at joint work on financial literacy, digitisation, anti-fraud measures, new financial products and capacity building for PSPs. The Chairman restated the association's commitment to supporting government programmes and extending digital financial services to the last mile. The Bank of Uganda described PSPs as critical drivers of innovation and inclusion.
